I noticed over the years that when things were troubling me, I energetically carried them along on my journey. At some point I was given the metaphor of baggage that held all these experiences and stories. This metaphorical baggage, kept me connected to my past, weighed on me and prevented me from moving forward. I adapted and become comfortable with all the extra weight. When I became aware of the impact of this practice I found some different ways to release the energy. Going forward I created new ways to release situations as they occurred. Below you will find several of these. My suggestion would be to try the ones that feel right to you and incorporate whatever ritual or ideas come to you in the moment. Give yourself full permission to create your own process by following your intuition. If you want to fly. You must give up what weighs you down". ~ Unknown Journal ~ Writing is a powerful tool to redirect the energy of a situation. The impact is that it takes the situation and holds it somewhere and removes it from our back. When writing we can reconnect to the experience and at the same time honour the situation and lessons that may have come to us over time. I used my journal to list all of my stories by name. Then I wrote about each story. I also asked myself a variety of questions to prompt my writing. How is this story serving me in this moment? What is the impact of hanging on to this story? What would be available to me if I let this situation go? Your journal can be used as a stand alone way of clearing energy and can also be used to assist you with the next processes. Write a Letter ~ I have had certain situations where I had something to say to someone. Either an apology or even ending an energetic relationship with someone. The intent is not always to send the letter. The process is intended to provide a space to share our thoughts and feelings about a situation freely. I have had situations where what needed to be said simply could not be done one on one. I have taken this a step further by sending the letter by mail or email either to a friend or to myself. Energetically this puts out the energy of actually sending. If you send it to a friend be clear about asking them to delete upon receipt. An optional next step would be to bring the letter to fire (see below) Rocks ~ Sometimes it can be helpful to really feel the physical weight. There are 2 suggested parts here. Part 1: Gather a number of medium to large size rocks. Then take inventory of all the stories / situations you are carrying. Using one word or a brief statement that connects you to the story transfer these with a marker or paint onto the rocks. One rock for each situation or story. When you have finished this process place your rocks into the bag of your choice. The invitation would be to carry these rocks around for a while feeling the impact of what you have been carrying. This process may also lead to other awareness. Part 2: Release the energy. I chose to walk to the river carrying my bag full of rocks and connecting to the weight of them. I created a very intentional walk. When I got to the river I connected with each rock and each story. I imagined that the energy of each situation was transferring to the rock. When it felt right I returned the energy back to nature by throwing each rock into the river. Allowing the energy of the river to claim each rock. Alternately you could use the rocks as a base for a fire, bury the rocks in the earth or walk to a lake. There are no limits to what you could create here.
